Use a transition week schedule to ease you and your child into the experience

It doesn’t matter what type of daycare arrangement you will be using, be sure to ask for an official “transition week” where the amount of time in daycare increases as the week goes on. For instance, Monday, 9-11, Tuesday, 9-12:30, Wednesday, 9-1, respectively. And, it is great if you’re able to do the transition week the week before you start back to work. You’ll get time to shop for some non-maternity work clothes, meet up with friends and more.

Don’t linger! A last big hug and kiss are enough

It is mandatory not to linger at the drop-off, even on the first day. One hug and a kiss are enough. It is better for the child not to have an extended goodbye, and not to set up an expectation that you’ll be present always, even from the beginning.

Plan for extra cuddle time

Whether it was for a few hours or the whole day, chances are, you’ll both be extremely happy to see each at the end of each day apart. So, why not plan for extra cuddle time? At least for a few days, forget laundry, cook some good food, and spend some serious time together after work in your favorite snuggle spot.
